Metal Laser Cutting Services

Laser cutting is a manufacturing process where a laser beam penetrates a raw sheet to create flat geometric shapes. Available in a wide range of metals, it is ideal for manufacturing parts such as gaskets, brackets and housings.

Laser cutting is often used for:

*Prototyping or testing product requirements
*Efficiency of scale up to 50+ parts
*Parts with standard connectivity features (USB, HDMI, Ethernet ports)

Our Laser Cutting Process

Our laser cutting services and capabilities are designed to produce quality parts on time and reliably.

Remove burrs and edge fragments from parts before shipment (included in price)
Process ensures parts are safe to handle right out of the box

Fiber lasers are designed specifically for metal cutting applications (vs. other material types) with thicknesses ranging from 0.024″ – 0.250″ (0.609mm – 6.35mm)

How Laser Cutting Works

The laser cutting machine converts laser energy into extremely high heat by focusing the laser beam. This heat is enough to melt or vaporize metal. When the laser beam passes through the material, it forms a thin line on the metal surface. The temperature of the line is enough to cut the material.

By manipulating the movement of the cutting head, the machine can complete the cutting of complex shapes.
There are three main types of laser cutting machines: CO2 laser cutting machine, YAG laser cutting machine and fiber laser cutting machine. Although the types are different, the working process of laser cutting machines is relatively the same.

Advantages of Laser Cutting Sheet Metal

Laser cutting of sheet metal offers several advantages.

First, using this technology can reduce manufacturing costs. This is because machining is no longer necessary for certain engineering operations.

This technology also offers high precision, allowing you to create complex shapes.

Laser cutting does not contaminate the workpiece, and the possibility of material bending is significantly reduced.

In addition, some metals simply cannot be cut using any other technology.

Other advantages of laser cutting of sheet metal include:

*High-quality overall finish
*Provides narrow kerf widths
*Provides high-speed cutting
*Minimizes material waste
*No secondary finishing operations are required
*Minimum operator intervention is required

Applications of Laser Cut Parts

Laser cutting is a common manufacturing process used in industries such as energy storage, computer electronics, robotics, and aerospace. Common parts manufactured with laser cutting include:

*Flat patterns
*Panels
*Gaskets
*Mounting plates
*Panels

Punching

Sheet metal punching is a metal cutting/processing process in which a punch press uses tools called punches and dies to apply force to the material to create contours, holes, and other formed shapes.

CNC Machining

Bending

Sheet metal bending refers to the plastic deformation of a metal part along an axis, resulting in a geometric change. The change is only in shape, while the volume of the metal part remains unchanged.
